Designed to offer both community and privacy to two or 12 occupants, this new beach house design is both intimate getaway and flexible enough to comfortably house large groups.

Separate three-bedroom sleeping wings have private living areas and outdoor terraces. Groups enjoy space and privacy; each wing can be shut off when not required, saving cleaning and utilities. The plan creates a variety of outdoor experiences: shaded summer deck, expansive terrace to make the most of winter sun, and enclosed balcony to weather watch in comfort through all seasons.

The sleeping wings share a central kitchen and generous dining hall, opening out to expansive decks and an infinity lap pool complete with open fire pit. Bedroom wings frame ocean views of stunning Cape Woolamai.

A feature rammed earth wall runs through the dwelling defining the courtyard. Undulating roofs and overhangs provide shelter and shade. Materials selected are low maintenance and durable – specified to withstand formidable coastal conditions – while clever design ensures unsightly items (suitcases and food storage containers) are tucked out of sight. Vehicles are hidden and protected from coastal conditions in a garage under the enclosed balcony.
