Architectural graduate

Lachlan obtained a Bachelor of Architecture and studied Biomedical Science in Brisbane, and completed a Masters of Architecture at RMIT. His interest in how science and scientific technologies can be applied to the building industry led to a thesis about bio-remediating contaminated sites (including how to safely store waste materials in rammed earth walls). Prior to joining Steffen Welsch Architects, Lachlan worked on major infrastructure and government projects. He is instrumental in the smooth running not only of the office itself, but of every project, of every scope, in the practice. He is the practice authority on BIM – the computer software that brings projects to life and that ensures design accuracy and efficiency.

Lachlan believes Melbourne’s architecture scene is “one of the most exciting places in the world for an architecture aficionado”. He enjoys sampling the city’s newest culinary offerings. His choice of coffee: long mac.
